Things You May Not Know About Ghostwriters

For many Ghostwriters and writers in general, there are many methods of getting published in existence today. However, some writers feel they lack certain traits or components to consistently produce engaging, solid and fresh content.

So, what happens when writers struggle with publishing or content creation? They hire a Ghostwriter! It happens a lot more than you would ever imagine.

Generally, Ghostwriters handle a number of assignments and a heavy work-load. They are well-versed and experienced in handling many tasks such as single article writing, web content creation, proofing, editing, and blogging, just to mention a few, all the way up to helping with a full-length novel. The term “Ghostwriter” simply means they do not receive any credit for the writing they do for their clients, and their clients can publish the work as if it were their own, with no repercussions.

Ghostwriters specialize in many areas and can write a number of different things.

Due to the vast subjects across the web, Ghostwriters are very flexible and can fit in just about anywhere in a wide variety of genre’s and niches.  They may be summoned to create content for websites, online businesses, brick and mortar businesses and even other writers.  Some Ghostwriters may choose to specialize in certain areas, where others may be more versatile in their knowledge and experience and prefer to create content on any topic, genre or niche.

Generally they are hired to help create articles for article marketing, blog posts, newsletters, email campaigns, web pages, BIOs, press releases, white papers and eBooks, to name a few. Some Ghostwriters are experienced in helping authors get their books into print publication, proof reading and editing.  Some might even write speeches, eulogies, business plans, and other areas where technical or formatted writing is needed.

How can you find or get connected to a Ghostwriter?

Ghostwriters can be found all across the internet. Many Ghostwriters or Ghostwriting companies have websites with examples or portfolios, contact information and rates. They are also marketing savvy and create marketing campaigns through Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and the like.  Ghostwriters also network with other writers by joining different forums and writing communities, which may lead to referrals and recommendations.  If you’re in need of hiring a Ghostwriter, finding one that suits your business needs won’t be very difficult.  However, finding a great Ghostwriter will take in-depth research or possibly even a referral from a trusted source.

With the way technology is soaring and the marketing needed for online business owners, Ghostwriters are in high demand.

What Skills is Necessary for Great Ghostwriting?

If you are interested in writing for companies within the United States, you must have a solid understanding of the English language.  In addition, you’ll need to have detailed research skills, excellent typing, spelling, grammar, ability to meet all deadlines, work in a fast-paced and stressful environment, marketing, constant contact with your clients, and knowledge of the different writing styles.

How can you be a Ghostwriter?

Becoming a Ghostwriter takes persistence, dedication, discipline, motivation and organizational skills.  It certainly helps to have a true passion for writing. I can’t imagine anyone doing this that doesn’t truly LOVE it and feel it is their “calling.” If you write without passion, then others will certainly be able to recognize it, and that could damage your reputation.

You’ll need to learn how to market yourself, your services, set your rates, set up a website, create marketing plans, perform article marketing, set limits, figure out your niche, stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technology, and most important…practice, read and write a lot.

9 Steps to Choosing the Perfect Article Writer for Your Specific Content Needs

Article writing, ghost writing, freelance writing and blogging are all very time consuming tasks associated with running any type of business.  Good article writers and bloggers are in high demand and can create the much needed content you are seeking.

Good news…there is a solution that will give you back the time you deserve and need for those precious and enjoyable moments in life.  Outsource your article writing and content blogging to a professional and experienced freelance writer.

How do you choose a writer and one that is perfect for your content needs?  Read on for some helpful tips.

1.  Prepare a set of interview questions.

Be prepared on your end as well.  Have a particular and specific set of questions you’d like to ask your potential writer.  Have you ever written “xyz” content?  What is your turnaround time on articles or blog posts?  What areas or topics are you experienced with?  You will need as many details as possible to determine the perfect writer for you and your business.

2. Speak with your potential writer directly.

Arrange a meeting to discuss some of the details over the phone.  Get a feel for their personality, demeanor, attitude and professionalism.  Do they listen without interruption, (listening skills are paramount)?  It’s the little things that make a real difference.

3.  Make sure the content produced is original and unique.

You want and need original information created just for you within your specific guidelines.  Do not hire someone that cannot produce 100% original content.  You want to be sure that your article is the only one like it and that there is no duplication whatsoever.  This could hurt your search engine ranking if you do not have original and unique, written just for you information.

4.  Do you know how to optimize articles?

Most businesses have a set of keywords based around their products or services.  It is critical that your content be SEO optimized with your specific keywords in order to rank in the search engines.  You’ll need to supply those keywords to your writer and then they need to know how to work those into that content seamlessly.

5.  Ask for samples of their work.

You may choose to ask for samples of work they have previously written, or have them create a short 200 to 300 word article specifically for you.  Keep in mind if you have them draft an article for you with your guidelines and you like and want to keep that particular article, be prepared to pay for it.  Did they follow instructions in detail?

6.   Ask for references.

Get references from people they have written for in the past.  Did they provide specifically what you asked for?  Did they meet all deadlines?  Would you rehire them?  What sort of results did you obtain from using their writing services?

7.  What is their writing style?

If your brand requires that someone portray a hip, fresh, laid back style, then make sure your content matches that strategy.  If your brand is more conservative or technical, then that will require a different voice as well.  Find the voice that matches your branding strategy.  You want a writer that can get to know you and what you care about, someone that can learn and understand your market and be able to bounce ideas off of.

8.  Copyright or no Copyright?

Most writers will keep the rights of the content and you are then limited with where you can publish and the amount of times you can publish that content.  If you are interested in keeping the copyright to your content, then find a writer willing to give you the rights.  In these cases, I have seen where this might cost a bit more to do; however, it is worth it in the long run.

9.  What are their rates?

There are many ways writers charge and you need to know which one will fit your business the best.  Do they charge by the word or page?  While there are article writers that charge a very low price for their articles, be very careful of this.  This could be content already previously written or content they have plagiarized.  Remember, you want original and unique content well written.   One other thing to consider is whether or not they are native English writers.  This is very important as well when it comes to proper sentence structuring, proofreading, grammar and ease of reading.

There you have some helpful tips in finding your perfect article writer.  Look for someone with patience and a strong desire to understand your business, your brand and details of your product or service.  Choose someone who will not give up easily when things don’t go well.  Writing is hard work and it takes diligence, patience, understanding and communication to get the results you are seeking.

What are some of your guidelines in choosing a writer?

You’ve made it this far, please leave a comment.  I don’t like to talk to myself all the time…LOL.

5 Tips to Make Your Blogging Fun, Efficient and Fast!

Your virtual assistant services would like to provide you some great tips and tricks that will make your blogging more efficient, quick, fun and easier.  We know how time consuming blogging can be, especially for virtual assistants who handle a variety of tasks for many professionals, and anything that can help us along the way is always welcomed and appreciated information.

This article is from one of our dear friends, Michelle Mangen who owns and operates The Virtual Assist.  Her article is packed full of great advice and time saving tips for blogging and social media.

Read on to learn how you can incorporate this valuable information that will help your social media campaign and blogging schedule.

On Wednesday I attended the Social Media Rock Star event in Green Bay. By far my favorite class was the one    taught by Todd Lohenry, the reformed German teacher and #1 Twitter in Algoma, WI (admittedly there are only 8 people from Algoma on Twitter).

Aside from being really funny he was hurling out so many good tips on how to make blogging quicker and more efficient that I quit Tweeting for #smrockgb and started an email to myself with all the things I wanted to look into when I got home.

  1. If you use Google Reader to get ideas and inspiration for your own blog posts then you want to get through the content as quick as possible. Use these GOOGLE READER SHORTCUTS (I just copied the information from Google’s FAQ into a document so you can easily save this PDF on your own machine)
  2. Feedly allows you to put your RSS feeds into a magazine type format (I love the Feedly FireFox Add-On for tweeting articles quickly – if you don’t have this one, do it now….you will thank me for the time it saves you in Tweeting)
  3. ScribeFire FireFox Add-On – hey, I’m using it now for the first time – it allows you to write posts without going into the backend of your WordPress
  4. Zemanta FireFox Add-On – couple this with #3 and you have the absolute coolness of having Zemanta pick up related articles, YouTube videos, etc. and incorporate them into your post (just look at the bottom of mine). It also allows you to find images to insert and will always give credit where credit is due!
  5. Zemanta WordPress Plugin – helps with tagging your post

I can’t tell you how to use all of them yet…but a future post will give more insight as I get more familiar and comfortable with them myself.

Gasp…you missed “Be a Social Media Rockstar” event in Green Bay? Hop over to this post and read more about it.

Easy Ideas That Will Help You Earn Extra Cash in This Horrible Economy (Part 2)

Here we go again, your virtual assistant services has come up with more great ideas for making money in this tight economy. In our last post we explained that we were going to continue this as a series as long as we can come up with valuable information for you that could really help you make some money. We welcome any ideas that you might like to contribute and we’ll add it to our next list. We feel it is our duty and honor to pay it forward in hopes this can and will help you.

So, let’s get started…

Room for rent

This is a great option if you happen to live close to a university or technical school. Many college students are more likely to feel comfortable renting a room with certain house privileges than older people. Just make sure you take precautions to protect yourself and your family but finding someone you can trust can prove to be very beneficial for a steady income.

Swimming Lessons

What a great idea especially during these hot summer months. You could either teach privately from your own backyard, if you happen to have a pool of course, or at your local recreation center. Keep in mind some places may require you to obtain special certification.

Write Reviews

If your knowledgeable and can write fairly fast, this could work for you very well. There are many web sites that will pay you a little cash to write product or miscellaneous reviews. Just do a Google search and you should come up with several.

Go to sites like Sologig, Guru or Elance where they offer a chance to bid on a particular project. Most anything can be done on a contract, freelance or outsourced basis and who knows, it could turn into a perfect opportunity for a full time job. It never hurts to give it a try, this is how we obtained one of our current clients, and that was 2 years ago!

Paper Route

This isn’t just for kids anymore, there are many of the older population trying to supplement their income and this is how they do it. You could increase your income by several hundred dollars a month. Check with your local area newspaper to inquire what might be available.

Direct Sales

If you enjoy getting out of the house and/or hosting parties, then this could be for you. There are many opportunities from Tupperware to Sex and you can make some excellent money. I have a girlfriend that sells Premier Jewelry and she makes 50% of the orders she books at a party! That is a huge commission.

Yard or Garage Sale

Yep, the good ole trusty garage sale, but hey, you can rake in some cash in just a couple of days. Sell everything you have not used within the last year, don’t like anymore, don’t have a need for any longer, stuff laying around the house just collecting dust and anything else your tired of looking at. Takes a little bit of work to get it all organized but it will certainly pay off.

Sell your homegrown veggies or fruits

Typically when you have a garden of any size there is no way you can eat all of it. You end up giving most of it away and that is fine and dandy, however, try selling some of it as well. You could put a sign in your yard to advertise it and you would be surprised how many people will stop and check it out. You might even try to sell them to your local grocery store.

Alright, there you have it again and as always, we welcome any comments or suggestions for some ideas you may have. Let us know and we’ll add it to the next list.

8 Easy Ideas That Will Help You Earn Extra Cash in This Horrible Economy

Your virtual assistant services team has come up with some great ideas to earn extra cash. We realize that there are some people not interested in starting a virtual assistant services business and may not have those particular skills. Therefore, we wanted to present some ideas to get those creative juices flowing and in hopes it will help you to achieve extra cash. Who couldn’t use that with this yucky economy and many of these can be done from home too. We hope you are successful in your endeavors.

Become a rolling advertisement.

Consider turning your car into a rolling billboard. There are many companies that are willing to pay to have your car wrapped with their advertisements. You’ll find plenty on Google.

Sell parts of your body.

I’m sure that got your attention. Check into programs that need your plasma, hair, eggs and sperm. Do a Google search to see where these clinics are located, give them a call and get started.

Perform music at weddings and other functions.

There are many churches that do not have staff or volunteers for their music. An experienced and talented pianist can make pretty good money doing this on the weekends. Go check out your local churches or put an advertisement in the local paper or craigslist.

Give eLessons.

You might be surprised at how many people do not know the basics of MS Word, Excel or other software applications. You might have computer experience that people seek and are willing to pay for. The ideas are endless here. Try using Backpage, craigslist and other free advertising sites to get started.

Start a laundry service.

You know how busy people are and how they would love to have a service like this! Offer to pick up and drop off at their office or home. You might even consider adding ironing to this list as well and that should pull in even more money. You might consider offering this to new mothers as a gift too.

Drive people to the airport or run errands.

You must have reliable transportation and be on time all the time. You can quickly obtain happy clients and once word is out, you’ll probably have to turn down business. Also, you can reduce your taxable income from mileage and the last time I checked, mileage was at 58.5 cents per mile. Incorporate into your errand business; grocery store, post office, pharmacy and dry cleaning.

Gardening and yard services.

This one is great especially for the spring and summer months and for adults or kids. If you have all the necessary equipment it would be fairly easy to get started. Go around your neighborhood and post flyers with your contact information and rates. Additionally you could offer to haul junk to the dump, yard clean up and the planting of vegetables.

Dog walking and/or pet sitting services.

You could start within your own neighborhood or apartment community and would cost nothing to get started. Ask your local veterinarian if they would allow you to post a flyer offering your rates and contact information.

Well there you have it and we sincerely hope you can obtain some cash with these ideas. We will be back with another list soon, so please stay tuned.

Good luck and let us know if you have started any of these ideas and how they are working for you. Do you have any ideas you would like to add to this list? Use the “contact us” page and tell us and we’ll add it to our next list. Thanks to all!

Motivational Tips for Work and Life

Your virtual assistant team has some motivation for work and life that will make you stop and think about how you can make a difference and be an example at work or home. Learn how to make everyday a great day by being that person who always has a smile on their face and that people are drawn to. Speak positively and have an attitude that exudes confidence and gratefulness in every situation!

We hope this also helps you and gives you a chance to focus on what you can offer to your employer, team and family.

  1. Contribution. What you give is most likely what you will receive in return. Seek out and determine what you can contribute to your team or work environment. Be engaging at work and that will lead you to experience higher levels of engagement at home and in your community. Whether you work virtually or on-site, be an active part and extend your brilliant contributions.
  2. Responsibility and accountability. If it is to be it is up to we! Hold others accountable for their engagement while at the same time take responsibility for your own engagement. Encourage others to continue to contribute and elevate employee engagement and interaction. Step up to the plate and be accountable and responsible.
  3. Master your personal energy. Your energy is your core raw material for engagement. Find ways to increase your levels of mental, emotional, physical and spiritual energy while also ensuring you take time for energy recovery. You must learn how to find ways to disengage from work to recharge and rejuvenate ourselves for the work ahead. So do something for yourself and have FUN, relieve that stress and focus on tasks that you know will de-stress you.
  4. Be strong! People who know what their strengths are use them on a daily basis and use them in the service of others. In doing so, people report higher levels of authentic happiness at work. What are your gifts or qualities you bring to your work and what activities do you engage in that strengthen you? Know your strengths while also knowing what strengthens you!
  5. Own your work. There is a great deal of truth to the statement: nobody washes a rented car. Some people make their marks while others sign their names (deep). Make your work a signature of who you are! Be authentic, honest, and ethical and leave an impression on others by showcasing the person you truly are!
  6. Get rid of the “if only”. Stop the “if only” thinking and do what you can with what you have wherever you are! Don’t postpone your engagement efforts waiting for the perfect opportunity. If only my company would do this, if only my supervisor would recognize me, if only I had a different job. Cease that negative thinking and practice the great advice from the NCAA basketball coach, John Wooden: don’t let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do!

Remember to focus on the positive things in your life and what you can contribute no matter what the situation is. Be the one that makes a difference and end that negative energy and feelings and you will see a tremendous change in your life and your employment. Always give specifically whatever it is you need!

So tell us, what are some of your daily struggles with trying to remain positive and exuding confidence? Is it something you struggle with daily? Do you have other tips you would like to see added to this post? Please share your thoughts and input as we love to hear from you and are always seeking ways to help others.

Go out and “make it a great day”!

WARNING!!! Take precautions as this is hilarious! ONLY A MAN WOULD ATTEMPT THIS, sorry guys but too funny not to share!

This husband was concerned about his wife’s safety which intrigued him to purchase a pocket tazer gun for their wedding anniversary. Read on, enjoy and be prepared to laugh till you cry!
Last weekend I saw something at Larry’s Pistol & Pawn Shop that sparked my interest. The occasion was our 15th anniversary and I was looking for a little something extra for my wife. What I came across was a 100,000-volt, pocket/purse- sized tazer. The effects of the tazer were supposed to be short lived, with no long-term adverse affect on your assailant, allowing her adequate time to retreat to safety….
WAY TOO COOL! Long story short, I bought the device and brought it home. I loaded two AAA batteries in the darn thing and pushed the button. Nothing! I was disappointed. I learned, however, that if I pushed the button and pressed it against a metal surface at the same time; I’d get the blue arc of electricity darting back and forth between the prongs. AWESOME!!!
Unfortunately, I have yet to explain to my wife what that burn spot is on the face of her microwave. Okay, so I was home alone with this new toy, thinking to myself that it couldn’t be all that bad with only two triple-A batteries, right? There I sat in my recliner, my cat looking on intently (trusting little soul) while I was reading the directions and thinking that I really needed to try this thing out on a flesh & blood moving target. I must admit I thought about zapping the cat (for a fraction of a
second) and thought better of it. She is such a sweet cat. But, if I was going to give this thing to my wife to protect herself against a mugger, I did want some assurance that it would work as advertised. Am I wrong?

So, there I sat in a pair of shorts and a tank top with my reading glasses perched delicately on the bridge of my nose, directions in one hand, and tazer in another. The directions said that a one-second burst would shock and disorient your assailant; a two-second burst was supposed to cause muscle spasms and a major loss of bodily control; a three-second burst would make your assailant flop on the ground like a fish out of water. Any burst longer than three seconds would be wasting the batteries.

All the while I’m looking at this little device measuring about 5″ long, less than 3/4 inch in circumference; pretty cute really (loaded with two itsy, bitsy triple-A batteries) thinking to myself, ‘no possible way!’ What happened next is almost beyond description, but I’ll do my best…
I’m sitting there alone, my cat looking on with her head cocked to one side as to say, ‘don’t do it goofy,’ reasoning that a one second burst from such a tiny little ole thing couldn’t hurt all that bad. I decided to give myself a one second burst just for heck of it. I touched the prongs to my naked thigh, pushed the button, and . . .
I’m pretty sure Jessie Ventura ran in through the side door, picked me up in the recliner, and then body slammed us both on the carpet, over and over and over again. I vaguely recall waking up on my side in the fetal position, with tears in my eyes, body soaking wet, both nipples on fire, testicles nowhere to be found, with my left arm tucked under my body in the oddest position, and tingling in my legs? The cat was making meowing sounds I had never heard before, clinging to a picture frame hanging above the fireplace, obviously in an attempt to avoid getting slammed by my body flopping all over the living room.
Note: If you ever feel compelled to ‘mug’ yourself with a tazer, one note of caution: there is no such thing as a one second burst when you zap yourself! You will not let go of that thing until it is dislodged from your hand by a violent thrashing about on the floor. A three second burst would be considered conservative?  IT HURT LIKE HELL!!!

A minute or so later (I can’t be sure, as time was a relative thing at that point), I collected my wits (what little I had left), sat up and surveyed the landscape. My bent reading glasses were on the mantel of the fireplace. The recliner was upside down and about 8 feet or so from where it originally was. My triceps, right thigh and both nipples were still twitching. My face felt like it had been shot up with Novocain, and my bottom lip weighed 88 lbs. I had no control over the drooling.
Apparently I pooped on myself, but was too numb to know for sure and my sense of smell was gone. I saw a faint smoke cloud above my head which I believe came from my hair. I’m still looking for my nuts and I’m offering a significant reward for their safe return!

P.S… My wife, can’t stop laughing about my experience, loved the gift, and now regularly threatens me with it!

If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!

Author unknown but would love to meet this guy! Hope you enjoyed a good laugh today as we all need that from time to time. Make it a superb day!

Are you in an abusive relationship? Read this crucial checklist and help prevent violence against women!

With all the commotion about Rihanna and Chris Brown, it made me stop and think about all the people that could be in that exact situation. Take it from someone who has “been there and done that” and only wished I had this sort of checklist many years ago. If this helps just one person by opening their eyes and/or alerting them to be safe and look out for number one and to recognize some of the signs and warnings, then one of my missions has been accomplished!

Red Flag Behaviors

Do You:

Apologize all the time?

Willingly accept the blame for everything that goes wrong in your relationship?

Walk on As far as situational awareness, don’t be afraid to be a bitch and tell a man NO.  Who cares what a perfect stranger thinks of you, your safety is more important. Also, never leave or allow yourself to be abducted, even at gun point… it is very hard to get shot with a pistol, especially if you can knock it away just a quarter of an inch.  And if you do get shot, at least you can get help…if you leave; well that scene is usually where they find the body.

Do you walk on egg shells, watching every word you say?

Rehearse what you will say to your partner to avoid triggering a reaction?

Cry more than you used to?

Repress your feelings, especially your anger?

Constantly try to figure out how to get your partners approval?

Give up interest, activities, and people that were once important to you?

Hold yourself back in your educational or vocational advancement?

Constantly excuse your partner’s behavior to yourself or others?

Does Your Partner:

Act jealous or possessive toward you?

Isolate you from your family or friends?

Check up on you?

Display a quick temper or extreme mood swings?

Become hypersensitive to criticism or perceived criticism?

Blame others?

Refuse to discuss, negotiate, and compromise?

Believe in stereotyped sex roles?

Always have to be in control?

Manipulate you?

Have unrealistic expectations of you or the relationship?

Get too serious too fast?

Refuse to accept breaking up?

Abuse drugs, alcohol, or other mood-altering substances?

Pressure you to use/abuse alcohol or drugs?

Show little respect for the opposite sex?

Pressure you for sex?

Mistreat animals or children?

Have a history of bad relationships?

Scare or threaten you or others?

Have a history of fighting?

Own or use weapons or display them to back up threats?

Break or strike objects?

Become violent with you or others?

The statistics show that if you answered yes to 4 in any combination of these questions, then you partner WILL hit you. And even more terrifying; if you have been hit or beat 4 or 5 times by your partner in the past, he WILL kill you. Typically your friends and family will ask, “Why do women stay in those relationships?” when we should be asking, “Why is he hitting her?”

Check out this interesting fact! One reason Michael Vick is in jail, besides the obvious dog fighting charges, was mainly due to people protesting, marching, writing letters and emails and making a stand on what they believe in, to the designated authorities and voicing their opinions regarding this situation.  I ask, “Since when did women’s lives sit below dogs on the worth scale?”

In the past they have told us to scream “fire” instead of help when we are being attacked?  Well, now they say to scream, “he’s a stranger, I don’t know him!” and you MIGHT get better luck with being helped.  The attitude is now, “not my car on fire, just some woman getting her ass beat.” How tragic and due to this you have to do something out of the ordinary to catch someone’s attention!

I could go on about the cases that have been investigated and true stories of men CONVICTED of killing unborn babies, who are now walking the streets. That crime holds a Life or Death sentence, why the HELL is he walking the streets? Is it because no one protested?

As far as situational awareness, don’t be afraid to be a bitch and tell a man NO.  Who cares what a perfect stranger thinks of you, your safety is more important. Also, never leave or allow yourself to be abducted, even at gun point… it is very hard to get shot with a pistol, especially if you can knock it away just a quarter of an inch.  And if you do get shot, at least you can get help…if you leave with the attacker, well very sadly that scene is usually where they find the body.  My hope and wish for you is to research your options on getting out safe and alive!

For all the “Mean Moms”- the highest compliment!

This was sent to me from a very dear friend and virtual assistant colleague.  I felt it was worth sharing and passing along.  I guess I would be considered a “mean mom” and proud of it!  My two adult children have grown into very respectful, honest, hard-working, appreciative, God loving, funny, caring and sweet individuals for which I am very proud of!  Read on…

Someday when my children are old enough to understand the logic that motivates a parent, I will tell them, as my Mean Mom told me:

I loved you enough to ask where you were going, with whom, and what time you would be home.

I loved you enough to be silent and let you discover that your new best friend was a creep.

I loved you enough to stand over you for two hours while you cleaned your room, a job that should have taken 15 minutes.

I loved you enough to let you see anger, disappointment, and tears in my eyes. Children must learn that their parents aren’t perfect.

I loved you enough to let you assume the responsibility for your actions even when the penalties were so harsh they almost broke my heart.

But most of all, I loved you enough to say NO when I knew you would hate me for it.

Those were the most difficult battles of all. I’m glad I won them, because in the end you won, too. And someday when your children are old enough to understand the logic that motivates parents, you will tell them…

You are in big trouble!
You are in big trouble!

Was your Mom mean? I know mine was.

We had the meanest mother in the whole world!

While other kids ate candy for breakfast, we had to have cereal, eggs, and toast.

When others had a Pepsi and a Twinkie for lunch, we had to eat sandwiches.

And you can guess our mother fixed us a dinner that was different from what other kids had, too.

Mother insisted on knowing where we were at all times.

You’d think we were convicts in a prison.

She had to know who our friends were and what we were doing with them.

She insisted that if we said we would be gone for an hour, we would be gone for an hour or less.

We were ashamed to admit it, but she had the nerve to break the Child Labor Laws by making us work.

We had to wash the dishes, make the beds, learn to cook, vacuum the floor, do laundry, and empty the trash and all sorts of cruel jobs.

I think she would lie awake at night thinking of more things for us to do.

She always insisted on us telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

By the time we were teenagers; she could read our minds and had eyes in the back of her head.

Then, life was really tough!

Mother wouldn’t let our friends just honk the horn when they drove up, they had to come up to the door so she could meet them.

While everyone else could date when they were 12 or 13, we had to wait until we were 16.

Because of our mother we missed out on lots of things other kids experienced.

None of us have ever been caught shoplifting, vandalizing other’s property or ever arrested for any crime.

It was all her fault.

Now that we have left home, we are all educated, honest adults.

We are doing our best to be mean parents just like Mom was.

I think that is what’s wrong with the world today.

It just doesn’t have enough mean moms!

Please tell us, are you a “mean mom” too?  We have to support one another!  Please respond by adding your comment to this post or use the contact us page!  We look forward to hearing from you!
