Why Article Marketing?

Because, it works!

When I started my article marketing and ghostwriting business in 2006, I was at a loss as to what types of marketing to invest and participate in.

With absolutely no money, (you know how it is when you are just getting started), I decided to learn everything I could about article marketing. I mean, I loved to write, so why not put this skill set to use as well?

With my mission in mind, I started researching, compiling information, studying, learning, asking questions to others in forums and blog posts, anything and everything about SEO, content ideas and locating the best distribution sites for my articles.

From there, I went on to teach myself all the ins and outs of this highly effective marketing tactic.

There are many, valuable reasons to use article marketing in your marketing campaign. It has helped me to achieve high-rankings in Google search results. It will help you do the same. The more visibility you have, the more sales you’ll get.

No matter what type of blogger or business owner you are, you want to have a strong readership. You can be writing about cooking, sports, movies, books or family life, but without fans, you’ll pretty much be writing for yourself. Driving traffic to your site will ensure that you have a broad fan base that will be eager to read each of your posts. Article marketing is one of the best ways to drive your targeted audience to your blog.

With article marketing, you will create small articles that you can distribute to various article directories, which will give you some quality backlinks to your own blog or website. The best thing is that most of these directories are free to publish your articles!

You might think it’s strange to offer your words of wisdom for nothing, but the benefits of article marketing are well worth the effort!

Attain Expert Status

An important part of being a blogger is becoming an expert in your market. If you can say, “I have 30 published articles about dog training,” more people are going to see you as a professional in that area. Readers have more trust in someone who they think is an expert. When people start to look to you for advice, then you can start building a wider audience.

Get a Stamp of Approval

Having articles on a well-established article directory, like EzineArticles.com, can act as an unofficial recommendation. This will boost your reputation as a writer and draw more readers to your blog or website.

Link Up

Anytime you publish an article on a directory, you will get a link back to your website or blog. Those links can help you rank higher in search engine results. The better you rank on search results pages like Google or Yahoo!, the higher number of organic traffic that comes to your page.

Because there are so many free or cheap options for distributing your content for article marketing, it is one of the most cost-effective methods for gaining publicity for your blog or website.

Before you get started on an article marketing project, it’s important that you have a specific goal in mind. You need to know exactly what you hope to accomplish by writing those articles. Do you want to get more readers for your blog? Do you want to increase sales? Drum up more clients? When you write with these goals in mind, they will be much easier for you to achieve.

It doesn’t matter what you blog about or how long you’ve been writing; article marketing is an excellent and affordable way to drive more traffic to your website and increase your readership numbers.

The 4 Best Tips for Marketing Your New or Existing Business

Marketing a business, no matter if it’s new or has been kicking around for years, takes a fair amount of creativity. It takes a lot more than just designing a website in a day and submitting it to as many spam directories as you can find. If you want to increase your traffic and find people who are genuinely interested in the product or service you are offering, then you need a unique marketing strategy. The right strategy will get your website noticed by tons of targeted traffic each day.

These are four of the best tips to remember when you begin formulating your own marketing strategy for your business:

Write articles that go viral.

Writing an article that follows all of the SEO guidelines you can squeeze into it is an easy task. Writing an article that your readers actually want to share and pass along to all their friends is a whole different ball game. Get creative. Be conversational and entertaining. Write your article for the readers and not just for the search engine spiders. The readers are what really matters in the end. If you feed them a stuffy article that puts them to sleep, then your content isn’t going to get you very far.

Encourage interaction with readers.

You want your potential customers to know that there is, in fact, a person behind the website. Encouraging them to interact with you on the website is an excellent way to create a bond between your business and the customer. Get them to respond to your blog posts with comments (and be sure to respond in kind!). Interact with them on a forum or on social media sites.

Give them honesty and they will reward you with loyalty.

You don’t want to give your website’s visitors any reason to be disappointed. Instead of blowing their heads full of false expectations, give them honest answers. You want your customers to be realistic when they sign up for your offer or buy your product. If you can’t absolutely guarantee that their hair will be lush and luxurious in a month, then don’t promise it. This is a fast way to lose the respect- and repeat business- of your customers. Be honest and give them the facts and your customers will keep coming back.

Give, give, give.

Everyone, customers especially, love free stuff. If you have things to give away with a purchase, throw it in the box. If you have an eBook that you can offer for free when someone signs up on your website, hand it over. Give your customers a coupon towards their next purchase and that just increases the chance that they will come back again and again. When you go that extra mile to make your customers feel valued, they will become long-standing customers and spread the word to everyone who will listen.

Remember, having a successful marketing strategy can make a big difference in the sales figures for your business. Without a creative approach to marketing, you’ll be waiting around for customers to come, which will just lead to disappointment.

What marketing strategies have you implemented in your business? What is the most effective tip you have learned? Let us know!

Three Steps to Improving Your Article Marketing Efforts

When you are using article marketing for your business, it is easy to become frustrated quickly. You may not be reaching goals you had set and that can leave you feeling disappointed with your plan. That doesn’t mean you should wave the white flag and give in! In order to cross the line from failure to success in article marketing, you need to have a plan.

To improve your marketing strategy, there are three important steps you need to take:

Step 1: Figure out Your Message

What are you trying to tell customers? They are looking for solutions to their problems. They have a need and want to know if you are going to fulfill it. Review each of your products or services and write out why the customer needs it. When you have a clear understanding of why someone needs to buy your product, then you will have an easier time explaining it to them. Customers want you to answer their questions so they can be confident you are the person to go to when they need something.

Step 2: Know How to Get Your Point Across- Quickly!

A lot of studies show that the average Internet user will only stay on a website between thirty seconds and one minute. That doesn’t give you very much time to grab their attention and convince them to buy your product. There is likely a lot of competition out there for the products or services you offer so you need to make yourself stand out right away. It will help by having headlines that will get the attention of readers while using your keywords.

Don’t be afraid to be entertaining! Your content doesn’t have to sound stuffy and dull. Make your content enjoyable to read and the customers will keep coming back. Be snarky, add a little humor or put a unique spin on it. Content should be engaging.

Step 3: Be Customer-Friendly

The Internet can be a very impersonal marketplace. That doesn’t mean you can’t treat your customers as you would if they were there in person. How would you talk to your customers if you had a brick-and-mortar store? Be personable. Chat them up. Form a bond, which will create a loyalty that isn’t often seen in too many businesses today.

Think about how you would want to be treated as a customer. What would you want to hear from a seller? What would make you trust them enough to hand over your money? You don’t have to throw a bunch of razzle-dazzle at them, but customers want to be handled in a friendly, thoughtful manner. And putting a smile on their face goes a long way in getting repeat customers.

Article marketing is just like any other form of marketing strategy. You need to put yourself in the customer’s shoes and figure out what they want to hear and how. Listen to your inner consumer and you will soon know exactly what you need to do to improve your article marketing efforts.

How to Choose Your Best Keywords Without a Search Tool

When you begin working on an online marketing campaign, you will immediately recognize the importance of using the right keywords to boost your content’s search engine optimization. Choosing the wrong keywords can lead to lackluster results for your website. So how do you find the ideal keywords for your business?

Many people turn to online keyword search tools for help. These can be very helpful, however, there are a few things that you need to do before turning to one of these suggestion tools for your keyword research.

Describe your business in simplified terms.

When you sit down to write out a description about your company, imagine that you are trying to explain it to your parents or grandparents. Don’t focus on industry-specific terms that the average person wouldn’t use. You want to choose simple terms that you imagine a potential customer would use when searching for your company.

Determine what sets your company apart from competitors.

Find what makes you unique in the industry. Are you a customer service guru? Do your prices make your competitors swoon? When you know what separates you from the other guys, it is easy to come up with descriptive keywords. Think: helpful, friendly, low cost, affordable, etc.

Identify any words that have multiple meanings.

There are many words out there that have more than one meaning and products are no exception. For example, “tablet” is a product that can fall into a wide range of categories. There are bath tablets, vitamin tablets, writing tablets, and now an emerging market for tablet computers. Know whether or not the product you sell could be mistaken for something else when a customer searches for it so that you can clear away any confusion.

Keep focus on your big sellers.

You may sell a wide range of products on your website, but that doesn’t mean you need to hit every possible keyword on search engines. Focus your efforts on optimizing your web pages for your most popular items. You will benefit more by spending your time on keywords that relate to your most profitable items.

Make a list of your top ten keywords.

Write down what you believe to be your ten most important keywords for your business. When you have your list, give those keywords a long, hard look. Do those keywords all center around a single product? Do you touch on all of the products you sell and services you provide? Your first instincts when it comes to keywords are not always correct. Give each keyword a second look and decide why each one made it on your list.

In order to optimize your website for search engines, you want to have targeted keywords that will draw a targeted audience. Avoid using keywords that have multiple meanings or single-word keywords. When you focus your keywords to be specific to your business, you will reach out to more potential customers who want the product or service you provide.

Online Content: How to Beat Your Competitors with SEO Content

No matter what type of business you have, you are going to have competition. Even more so when you have an online business. You might think you have the edge, but there will always be others out there looking to take the top spot in the industry. In order to take your place at the top of the heap- and stay there- you need to know what it takes to compete.

When you start producing online content to support your business, it is important to have a strong understanding of search engine optimization. You also need to know who your competition is so that you can effectively compete. When you have the insight into the other businesses in your industry, you’ll be ready to put up a fight.

Check out the websites of your competitors and anyone else who may be selling a product or service similar to yours. See who is sitting at the top of the search engine results. In order to get yourself up at the top, you need to know what these businesses are doing to stay there. Observe the web design; take note of the prevalent keywords, and any other detail that can impact a search engine rank.

After you have done your research on your competition, take what you have learned and see what improvements can be made to your own web page. Maybe your layout can be rearranged. Play with your color scheme and tweak your design. You may be surprised by how much the look of your website can influence your customers.

The content on your website also plays a major role in how well your business will do. Take the time to research the best keywords and phrases to include in your online content. Consider adding a blog to your site, or maybe videos. Find changes that are going to set you above your competition. When you focus on search engine optimization, you will see a great improvement to your own search engine ranking. Staying on top of the results means more potential customers finding their way to you.

Quality SEO content can make all the difference in the online business competition. Every business, in any industry, can benefit from professional web content. It will enhance the value of your website in the eyes of customers.

After you have looked at what your competitors are doing to boost their business, try coming up with a few ideas that are uniquely yours. Be creative in your efforts to draw more traffic your way.

Always give different techniques a test drive. Something that works incredibly well for another company may not have the same impact on your business. Staying on top of the search engine results means making changes whenever necessary. It is a never ending process, but well-worth the efforts that you make. Beating the competition requires constant attention to SEO of your online content.

How to Get the Best Results with Article Marketing Online

Too many people are giving up on their article marketing campaigns because they aren‘t getting the results they expected. These are the people who only post a handful of articles to one or two directories and wait for the magic to happen. When they don’t see a huge return for their meager efforts, they throw in the towel and then spread the word that marketing their articles online isn’t worth the trouble. Not only are those people ruining their own chances of success, but they’re scaring off other people who are considering article marketing online.

In order to get the best results with article marketing, it’s important to know what your plan of action needs to be from the start. With this information at the ready, you’ll be better equipped in your online content marketing campaign. To make your articles work best for you, here are some things you need to know:

Do thorough keyword research and make a list. You want to have a stockpile of keywords and keyword phrases that are appropriate for your industry. You can use a tool like Google’s free keyword tool or invest in a professional tool like Market Samurai. You want to focus on keywords that are going to help you rank highly in search results.

Write an article for all of your keywords. Try to set a daily goal of writing one article. If your talent for writing isn’t too strong, consider hiring a ghostwriter. Many ghostwriters are knowledgeable in SEO practices.

Submit to a wide variety of directories. Every directory offers different options. Different niches perform better on one site than another. When you distribute your articles to a lot of directories, you can determine which ones are giving you better results in your article marketing campaign.

Track each article’s performance. Knowing which articles are performing best and each directory gives you an idea of what your search rankings will be. Then you can focus your efforts on the better performing keywords.

Fine-tune to your articles. When you track the performance of your articles, you’ll begin to notice which titles are capturing more hits and which ones are only doing okay. Then you can tweak a little here and there. For example, maybe titles written as a question get more readers than those that are straightforward.

Use what you’ve learned to boost your traffic. Once you’ve observed what is working best in your article marketing campaign, you can start duplicating what you learned in your future articles.

Remember, article marketing isn’t supposed to be easy. Nothing worth doing ever is. If you want to see fantastic results, you have to put your best efforts into what you write and how you distribute.

Take This Lollipop- A Chilling Look at Cyber Stalking

We all know that it’s possible, but we just never believe that it will happen to us- cyber stalking. Thanks to the creators of the website Take This Lollipop, anyone can get a chilling glimpse into what it is like to be stalked through social media.

With your permission, the website will use your Facebook information (which the disclaimer states will NOT be saved or used for any other reason) to let you see yourself through the eyes of a crazed cyber stalker. The stalker is played-very convincingly- by an actor. The man looks like someone we would all avoid passing too close to on the street.

And he’s obsessed with you.

In the short film, you’ll see this man leering at your Facebook profile, scrolling through all of your photos, and reading your posts. This is a lot like a PSA, but leaves you with a very unsettling feeling. Parents, it just may be worth it to have your child watch this if they are using social media.

  • Tips on Protecting Yourself From Online Stalkers
  • Make your passwords more difficult to guess. If it’s a word in the dictionary, someone with the patience is going to figure it out. Avoid anything too obvious, like your birth date, mother’s maiden name, etc.
  • ŸAlways log out when you’re done on a social media site. Use different user names and passwords for each website that you log into.
  • Even if your laptop never leaves your home or office, act like it can be stolen at any time. Enable the password prompt to pop up as soon as you open it for the day and any time it goes to “sleep.” Make sure it is closed when you are done with it.
  • ŸIt may surprise you to know that someone can access your webcam without you knowing it! If you have a built-in webcam on your laptop, you can cover the lens with a small piece of tape. When you’re not using your stand-alone webcam, turn it so that it’s facing a wall. This will keep those prying eyes from seeing what’s going on inside your home.

Article Marketing Services: A Great Way to Relieve Stress and Harness Some Free Time

Article marketing for online business owners can be quite intimidating. Business owners need to market their products and services, but the thought of spending hours upon hours researching and churning out original content and then having to spend additional time distributing those articles can be extremely overwhelming.

While content marketing can be one of the most effective marketing strategies, it is also extremely time consuming. In order to free up time and eliminate frustration, many businesses will turn to article marketing services for help.

There are plenty of content marketing services available, each offering to assist you with your specific needs. Many only deal with the writing aspect, using ghostwriters to produce content in your name. Others also do the research needed in order to make sure your articles are keyword-rich and optimized for search engines (SEO). Some article marketing services only handle distribution, taking content that you have created and submitting it to numerous article directories such as EzineArticles.

The real lifesavers in the article marketing business are those services that provide a combination of all the things you need for content marketing. They will do the research, write the content, ensure that it is keyword-rich (without crossing the line of being keyword-stuffed), and then distribute it to a variety of directories.

These companies will also keep you up-to-date on the stats for your articles so that you can keep track of how each one is performing on each site. If you notice that your content is not performing as well in some directories as others, you can make any necessary changes to help streamline your marketing.

When you decide to embark on an aggressive article marketing strategy, it will be helpful to determine what tasks will best be handled through outsourcing. Hiring a ghostwriter can relieve your stress and give you back some of your much-needed and desired time. An article marketing service can make the entire process of submitting to a large number of directories a breeze.

Having the time you need to spend on important tasks for your business is priceless. Hiring an article marketing service will help you become a recognized expert within your industry and build credibility with your readers.

With that information in mind, you will be able to make the right decision when it comes to hiring an article marketing service. The right company will give you the peace of mind you need and the extra time you seek.

Simple Tips for Building the Best Article Marketing Strategy

Online business owners need to have a solid marketing strategy in place. Every aspect of marketing involves careful planning in order to ensure success, so take the time to lay out your own strategy before setting off on a costly campaign.

When you get started on an article marketing campaign for your business, you need to remember quality and quantity. A combination of both is the key to being a successful article marketing specialist. You can’t expect to crank out tons of mediocre articles and see positive results. The same goes for only producing one or two articles a month. It takes a wealth of strongly written articles to do well in your article marketing campaign.

You also don’t want to be spending too much of your valuable time toiling away on your articles. That won’t be beneficial in building up your web traffic, and a steady flow of visitors is what brings you profits. So what steps can you take in order to form an article marketing strategy that’s right for your business?

It would make sense and be very cost efficient to do everything yourself: research, keyword searches, writing the articles, proofreading and editing, signing up with article directories and submitting them, linking those articles back to your website, etc. When you already have a very busy schedule, it may seem next to impossible for you to actually get through your list of article marketing tasks.

But don’t fret…let’s break it down into bite-size chunks.

Go slowly in the beginning. Set a goal of completing one 400-word article a week. This should take only about an hour of your time. If you start to see it taking you three or more hours to do, you should consider putting your article writing campaign on hold and look into a course that teaches you how to write articles for an online audience. You might even consider outsourcing your article marketing and writing campaign.

Ease your way into writing three articles each week, then try to work on completing one a day. Before long, you’ll be churning out 365 articles a year, each working hard to draw more prospects to your website.

Alternate what type of articles you write. In one, write up a question-and-answer article. Next time, write a “top 10” article or a “how-to” article and so on. Always look at the stats for each article and you’ll see which ones are converting best.

Sign up for a wide variety of article submission directories and rotate between them every other month. For example, use EzineArticles your first month, ArticleRich the next one, GoArticles for the next, etc. You may notice a higher response from one directory in comparison to others.

After your first year, take a look at all of your articles and see which directory and article type have been ranking highest for you in search engines like Google. You also want to see which “About the Author” section is getting you the most click-through traffic.

To form the best article marketing strategy, it’s important to maintain a balance between writing the right kind of content for the audience you’re targeting and generating enough of that content. The things that work best for one marketer may not be the right path for you. It takes time, practice and patience to obtain the results you need for your specific online business.

What steps are you taking to form your own article marketing strategy? What are some of the obstacles you’ve faced in your campaigns and what have you done to overcome them? I’d love for you to share your thoughts and helpful insights!

How to Conduct Article Marketing Research for Your Business

In article marketing, the writing can be hard but it’s the research that can really drag you down. Coming up with unique article topics that people actually want to read isn’t easy for many of us.

So how can you find some winning ideas? Here are six sure-fire ways that will get your creative juices flowing and set you on your way to creating plenty of amazing articles for your article marketing campaign.

Check out what your competitors are doing

Directories are full of articles that cover a wide array of topics, and chances are that there are plenty that cover your own niche topics as well. You can look to see what others are writing about to help boost your own creative process.

Let’s say you are a beautician looking to broaden her client base. You can find articles about homemade beauty treatments, the latest hair treatments and trends, and any make up tips and techniques. Reading through another person’s article topics can help shake loose some ideas in your head.

Remember: there is a big difference between snooping and stealing, so don’t let yourself be tempted to plagiarize another author’s work. Instead, compile a list of ideas that you get by scrolling through article headlines and create your own unique pieces based on those list items.

Visit Q&A Sites

There are sites, like Yahoo Answers, that allow users to post open questions for others to answer. You can type your keywords into the search bar and a list of questions that include your keywords will be brought up.

For example, if you type in the keyword “Make-up,” you’ll see questions like: What are some make-up tips for someone with a round face? What brushes are used for what make-up? What make-up looks good for dark eyes?

There is a wealth of potential articles available when you get to see what kinds of information people are seeking.

Look in Forums

There are forums on the web that cover almost any topic you can think of, so if you just do a simple search for one, like “beauty forum,” you’ll find plenty of ongoing discussions. Forums are a great place for people to go in search of answers.

Flip Through Industry Magazines

You can do this online as well. There are plenty of magazines out there that cover topics of all types. You can see what topics they are covering in their current issues, find out what people are reading by seeing what is being “Liked” and “Tweeted” by readers.

Find an “Idiots Guide”

The Idiots Guides and “for Dummies” books are a wealth of information and ideas. You can even just check the table of contents in these books to gain some more ideas for article topics.

Watch the News

Whether watching it on TV or keeping up with it online, the news always has new topics for you to look into. You can find out about product recalls, new trends, etc. If it’s something that the media is focusing on at the moment, chances are people are going to be seeking more information about it online.

You can get inspiration anywhere; you just have to keep your eyes, and your mind, open to all the possibilities. You may find yourself in a writing slump or maybe you don’t have the time to spend brainstorming new topics. Doing some research can help you find plenty of future article topics. If you don’t have time to do your own research, or even to write up articles yourself, consider hiring an article marketing specialist who ghostwrites content for the web.
